Milton Markets

Hi.  I'm Tim.  In 2020 I started  photographing a few of my local Milton Markets buskers as part of COVID pandemic recovery.  Many of these images have been used by music acts and promoters.

2020 when COVID pandemic hit, southeast QLD music venues closed for 11 weeks.  First to return were markets, classified differently from (indoor) music venues which had tighter restrictions.

More generally, I've noticed as a music photographer how important market spaces are in southeast QLD for musicians.  Gig earnings vary widely - some markets have dedicated (paid) music stages, and some very serious and larger stages with concert PA, lighting, and international acts.. ranging thru to smaller stages and busker spots, earnings dependant on whether performers attract busking case money, music for sale, merch, online sales.

Street photography is a serious art form, pioneered early 20th century and made famous by Henri Cartier-Bresson.  The genre originated as an offshoot of photojournalism , and  documents  social events, landscapes, architecture, people and places.  Street photography is seen by some as perhaps  inconsequential, but when historians tell their history it is often street images that are used.
